Boston, Massachusetts

Windows

Screens, tracks and sills

The glass looks clean for longer when what's around it is clean. We hose and brush screens, scrub tracks and clear the small drain holes.

Boston windows collect pollen, soot and road salt in the tracks, and the dirt runs back onto the glass after the first rain. We start with the track, so it doesn't.

Included

  • Screens hosed and brushed, then rehung in the same window

  • Tracks scrubbed with a stiff brush

  • Weep holes cleared on aluminum frames

How it is priced

How this one is priced

Screens are priced each, and tracks and sills are part of the visit. A screen-only visit still has the minimum.

  • Screen

Priced each, washed and rehung in its own window.

  • Tracks and sills

Part of the visit, with no line of their own.

  • Minimum visit

A screens-only visit still has it, and the quote says so on its own line.

The visit

How a visit goes

  1. 01

Step 1: We tag each screen

Each screen is marked with its window so it goes back where it came from.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Screens first

Hosed outside, brushed, set to dry.

  3. 03

Step 3: Tracks and weep holes

    Vacuumed, scrubbed and rinsed.

  4. 04

Step 4: We rehang and check

Every screen goes back, and we point out the ones that need a patch.

Before and beyond

What to do before we arrive, and what we leave alone

  • Before we arrive

    • Take down any decor in front of the screens

    • Tell us about screens that stick

    • Make sure we can reach outdoor taps, or tell us we need to bring water

  • What we do not do

    • Repair or reglaze screens

    • Replace weatherstripping

    • Remove mildew staining from wood

    • Clean mold

Questions about this

Homes built before 1978: will you open painted-shut windows?

No. We clean the glass we can reach and leave painted-shut sashes closed. Homes built before 1978 can have lead paint on sashes and sills, so we don't scrape, sand or force paint. If we see flaking paint at a window we wipe around it, stop there and tell you.

What if it rains on our day?

We text you the evening before if the forecast looks wrong for outside glass. We either do the inside that day or move the whole visit to the next open day, whichever you prefer. There's no charge to move for weather.

Count your panes, or send a photo

We text back a written price by the pane. Sending a photo books nothing.
